ARGENTEUIL: A PRIME LOCATION
The MRC d’Argenteuil benefits from a strategic location that is ideal for growth and development. Located in the Lower Laurentians, the MRC d’Argenteuil is about 80 km from Montréal and 130 km from Gatineau. The territory is surrounded to the north by the Laurentians and Pays-d’en-Haut RCMs, to the east by the Rivière-du-Nord, Mirabel and Deux-Montagnes MRCs, to the west by the Papineau RCM and to the south by the Ottawa River, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC and the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.
The MRC d’Argenteuil offers many development opportunities. The municipalities in the northern part have great potential in the tourism and forestry sectors. The municipalities located further south enjoy excellent conditions for the maintenance and development of various agricultural activities. Those along the Ottawa River have a rich history and attractive recreational and tourism potential. Finally, the City of Lachute, with nearly 12,000 inhabitants and its industrial parks, is the main agglomeration of the RCM and represents a major employment hub.
AN ACCESSIBLE COMMERCIAL AREA
The MRC d’Argenteuil enjoys a vast territory covering 1,339 km2. Located near major highways and urban areas such as Montréal and Ottawa, its proximity to Highway 50 makes it ideal for the transportation of goods.
Due to its geographical location, the MRC d’Argenteuil and its municipalities serve a number of business markets in Ontario and the United States. In fact, business sectors requiring access to an airport terminal with modest operating costs can depend on Lachute’s municipal airport, not to mention Montreal’s international airports (Montreal-Mirabel and Montreal-Trudeau), located respectively 20 minutes and only 45 minutes away. The Synercité industrial space is also served by the Quebec-Gatineau railway.
